BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WKRN) — A Hendersonville man was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck Monday morning along Interstate 65 in Kentucky, officials said.
According to Kentucky State Police, law enforcement was sent to the 20.2 mile marker along I-65 just before 3 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 to respond to reports of a collision.
A preliminary investigation reportedly indicates that 49-year-old Johnathan Barnes of Hendersonville was traveling north on I-65 in a 2019 Toyota Highlander when he hit an object in the roadway, which caused the vehicle to become disabled in the travel lane.
Officials said a semi-truck, which was also traveling north, hit the same object before colliding into the Highlander.
Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner, according to KSP.
It remains unclear if the 35-year-old semi-truck driver was injured in the crash or faces any charges.
Personnel with KSP, Warren County EMS and the Warren County Sheriff's Office all reportedly assisted at the scene.
No additional details about the deadly crash were immediately released.
