LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — One person has died from injuries sustained in a brush fire earlier this month in Lawrence County.
Fire crews responded to a brush fire on Rattlesnake Lane in Leoma on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Upon arrival, medics discovered one victim with significant burns and injuries, according to Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Tennessee. The victim was flown via helicopter to a trauma center where they later died from their injuries.
Crews worked to extinguish the fire, which had grown to nearly five acres. Investigators believe the fire started from a riding lawnmower that spread to nearby grass and brush.
Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Tennessee noted the victim was a very good person who was known and loved by many in the community as well as his family.
The victim's identity was not immediately released.
