Blue Bell ice cream sold in 16 states, including Tennessee and Kentucky, recalled for undeclared allergens
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Blue Bell has issued a voluntary recall on some half gallons of ice cream for undeclared almond, walnut and pecans.
According to Blue Bell Creameries, "a limited quantity" of Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream was mistakenly packaged in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream cartons. The affected cartons had a Moo-llennium Crunch lid, but did not declare almonds, walnuts or pecans.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds, walnuts, and pecans
run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," a statement from Blue Bell Creameries reads, in part.
A Blue Bell employee reportedly discovered the incorrect packaging while restocking a retailer, and Blue Bell Creameries said that no illnesses or any adverse reactions have been reported yet. No other incorrect packaging has been discovered or reported yet, either.
Not only can the affected half gallons be identified by the Moo-llenium Crunch lid with the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough carton, but the code “061027524” is also located on the top half of the lid.
The affected half gallons were distributed through retailers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida
Panhandle, Northwest Georgia, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Southwest Virginia.
You can return this ice cream to the place of purchase for a full refund. For any other questions, you can email Blue Bell's customer relations or call them at 979-836-7977 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
