NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One of Nashville's "Most Wanted" fugitives has been taken into custody only a week after being put on the police department's list.
April Garcia Turcios, 39, was wanted on outstanding warrants for robbery, domestic assault with bodily injury and theft of property, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Officials featured her among their "Top 10 Most Wanted" fugitives on Jan. 31 as they were searching for her whereabouts. According to arrest affidavits, Turcios is accused in two separate crimes that happened between Nov. 29 and Dec. 27.
Police first encountered her name after she was identified as a suspect in a robbery at a home on Gillock Street. The homeowner told authorities he had invited Turcios and her friend over the night before, and later realized his phone was missing after they left.

Turcios allegedly told the man she had taken his phone by mistake and would bring it back to him. However, the homeowner said she returned several hours later with a man who demanded he give them his belongings and threatened him with a firearm and stun gun.
In the affidavit, police noted that no weapons were actually seen, but the homeowner "was put in fear." Turcios and the other suspect reportedly took several of the man's electronics before leaving the area.
The homeowner provided investigators with several photos and screenshots of his text conversations with Turcios, as well as photos from her profile on the website he had met her on, and locations of his electronics that were stolen.
His stolen cellphone and iPad were consistently pinging at an address in Gallatin, where police said her male accomplice lived. The suspects are also believed to have used the devices to make fraudulent transactions through PayPal, officials said.
Officers responded to another call that reportedly involved Turcios about a month later. In that case, a woman told police she had been attacked by her two roommates at their home on Kingston Street.
The woman said an argument began after she heard Turcios say something softly to their male roommate. When the woman asked Turcios what she said, "things began to escalate," with Turcios stating that the man was "her bodyguard," according to the affidavit.
At one point during their argument, the woman told police the man "slammed her down to the floor on her side and both of them began punching her repeatedly in the face."
Responding officers noted that the woman had several visible injuries, including a busted and bleeding upper and lower lip and a missing tooth that had reportedly been knocked out.
Authorities apprehended Turcios on Wednesday, Feb. 7. As of Thursday, Feb. 8, she was still behind bars with a $13,000 bond. She is among at least 85 "Most Wanted" fugitives who have been arrested since the program began in October 2022.
Officials largely attribute the program's success to tips from the public. To see this week's list of "Top 10 Most Wanted" fugitives, click here.
