District apologizes after 'intruder drill' leads class to evacuate at Clarksville school
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Clarksville-Montgomery School System issued an apology Tuesday after a mock intruder drill led a middle school class to evacuate to a nearby neighborhood.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26 officials said a pre-planned intruder drill was performed at Richview Middle School, adding that the drills happen quarterly.
However, at some point during the drill, an administrator allegedly used the wrong script, which "caused concern for everyone."
The school system sent a message to families about the incident, which read in-part:
We deeply apologize for this mistake and the concerns it caused. This should have been a routine drill, but the script used was for an actual emergency not a drill. We appreciate the quick actions of students, employees, families, and law enforcement. We will ensure this never happens again during a drill. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Clarksville-Montgomery County School System
One class and teacher reportedly evacuated to a neighborhood. School resource officers, law enforcement personnel, and school administrators were able to get everyone back inside the building in minutes, officials said.
According to the school system, there will be "action-review and retraining" to make sure quarterly lockdown drills are up to CMCSS' expectations.
No additional details were released. To view the district's Active Threat Plan and lockdown drills, click here.

Battle of the Thanksgiving sides: Which one is Tennessee’s favorite?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thanksgiving is so much more than turkey and ham. In fact, the sides are the star of the show for some gathered around the table.
With Turkey Day quickly approaching, Campbell's released its State of the Sides report, which offers a detailed look of popular side dishes and trends across America.
Tennesseans should plan on making plenty of stuffing/dressing this year as it was ranked as the state's favorite side dish, according to the report.
The side dish isn't only a favorite in Tennessee. In fact, data shows that stuffing/dressing rules as the national favorite, up second place in 2023, but 33% of people still prefer to tweak to the recipe and make it their own.
Meanwhile, five states — California, Iowa, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming— chose mashed potatoes as the best Thanksgiving side dish.
According to Campbell's, these are 2024's top "Thanksgiving Hits":
- Stuffing/Dressing
- Mashed Potatoes
- Sweet Potatoes
- Green Bean Casserole
- Mac & Cheese
The report also examined which flavors, ingredients and trends each region prefer to add to their Thanksgiving feasts. Campbell's said those living in the Southeast, approximately 22%, tend to incorporate at least seven or more side dishes, boasting more than the national average.
In conclusion, the report found that 56% of American would prefer eating side dishes over turkey this year, adding that 38% say they would be happy to fill their plate with just side dishes, and 60% say they enjoy cooking the sides more than cooking the main bird.

Multiple assault charges against man on Metro Nashville's 'Most Wanted' fugitives list
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man wanted for multiple assault charges, including aggravated rape and especially aggravated kidnapping with threat of serious bodily injury, is among those considered the "Most Wanted" fugitives in Nashville.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNDP) publishes its list of "Most Wanted" on the Facebook page for the MNPD Criminal Warrants Division each Wednesday. Those appearing on the list are considered Metro police's "most violent" suspects. Most on the list have charges for violent or sexual offenses.
Some of the people on the list have reportedly been on the run for more than a year, while others are fresher faces. However, the list has aided police in several arrests.
Since the list was first published in 2022, around 150 people featured on it have been apprehended or surrendered, including several apprehended out of county or out of state.
Below is a list of the suspects who made the police department’s “Most Wanted” list for the week of Nov. 20, 2024.
1. Dadiri Muhina

Dadiri Muhina, 23, has been at the top of the “Most Wanted” list for nearly three months, after being added to the list 11 weeks ago. According to MNPD, he is still considered the “Top Most Wanted” fugitive.
According to police, Muhina is wanted after being indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple felony counts. His charges include first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, solicitation to commit first-degree murder, attempted murder and tampering with evidence.
Court records show the charges stem from a September 2021 shooting that killed 16-year-old Ja'Niya Birdsong and injured another 17-year-old. Family members told News 2 multiple young men were involved in an argument with the two teens before shots rang out.
Birdsong died at the scene in her grandmother’s Paragon Mills driveway. She was a junior at Hillsboro High School and hoped to become a hairstylist, according to family.
While initially the only link to a suspect was a light-colored sedan seen leaving, six people—including—Muhina have since been identified.
As their investigation progressed, detectives said they found text messages between the suspects regarding their plans to destroy the car used in the alleged homicide. Muhina and the other suspects are also accused of conspiring to hire someone to kill a witness.
At least one other suspect in the shooting was taken into custody. However, Muhina has remained at large. Anyone with information on Muhina’s whereabouts is asked to contact the MNPD at 615-862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
2. Adrian L. Cameron

Adrian Cameron, 19, has been on the run since April, according to MNPD. He’s been at the top of the “Most Wanted” list for several months as police continue to search for him in connection to the death of 32-year-old rapper Chris King.
King was shot and killed just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20. Investigators said King was hanging out with friends in an alleyway between Hayes and Church streets when they were approached by three other men.
While the interaction began “cordial,” according to King’s friends, the tree eventually tried to rob them. That’s why gunfire rang out, injuring King and his 29-year-old friend.
Both were brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but King did not survive his injuries.
Cameron, who was out on bond for the 2021 murder of 50-year-old Josh Evans at the time, was identified as a suspect in the shooting days later.
Officials believe Cameron cut his ankle monitor shortly after the shooting. Cameron has just turned 17 years old when police said he turned himself in for Evans’ murder. Evans was found shot and wrapped in trash bags in the Cumberland River in September 2021.
Cameron was arrested again for gun charges in Rutherford County less than four months after turning himself in for the 2021 murder. He’s now charged with criminal homicide in connection with King’s death, as well as failure to appear.
However, efforts to locate him have been successful. Police said his last location is unknown.
3. Lagarrion L. Blacksmith

Lagarrion Blacksmith, 35, has been toward the top of the department’s “Most Wanted” list for nearly a year as police continue to search for him.
He was initially added to the list Nov. 29, 2023, after investigators were able to connect him to a deadly shooting that took place outside a Dickerson Pike bar last year.
Officers found 35-year-old Chancellor Eddins lying on the ground just outside Trvth Lounge on Feb. 18, 2023. He had been shot and later died at the scene. Another man who had also been hit by the gunfire was able to give officers an account of what happened.
According to police, the injured man told them he and Eddins had gotten into an argument with the suspect inside of the bar. Then, shots were fired as they left the location. At the time, the identity of the alleged shooter was unclear.
Months later, investigators announced Blacksmith had been identified as a suspect in the shooting. On Nov. 22, 2023, officials said arrest warrants had been issued against Blacksmith for criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and felon in possession of a handgun.

However, efforts to locate him have also reportedly been unsuccessful. His last location is unknown to authorities.
4. Raceme L. Crutcher

Raceme Crutcher, 22, has been on the run from police for more than a year, after he was named one of two suspects in a deadly Fourth of July shooting in 2023.
Officials said the shooting happened at the Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road. Etabo Malanda, 16, was reportedly standing on the porch of an apartment when two armed individuals came from around the corner and confronted him.
Malanda allegedly tried to pull out a pistol that was inside his hoodie, but he was shot first. Police said he died shortly after he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to investigators, four guns were recovered from the apartment, including one that was reported stolen. Crutcher and 17-year-old Jaylin Brown were reportedly connected to the crime through witness accounts.
Investigators also obtained surveillance footage and additional information from community members that they said pointed to Crutcher and Brown as suspects in the case. Officials believe the motive may have been an ongoing dispute between the suspects and Malanda.
Brown was taken into custody on Aug. 31, 2023, after police said they caught him driving a stolen car. Crutcher, however, is still on the run. He was added to the “Most Wanted” list on Nov. 15, 2023. His last location is unknown.
5. Irihoze E. Furaha

Irihoze Furaha, 26, is making is second straight appearance on the list after being added last week.
According to police, Furaha is wanted for a grand jury indictment on a charge of aiding and abetting an aggravated rape.
His last known location was in Murfreesboro.
6. Fredy Sanchez-Argueta

Fredy Sanchez-Argueta, 49, is entering his sixth week on the “Most Wanted” list. According to MNPD, Sanchez-Argueta is wanted on outstanding warrants for 12 sex crimes charges.
Charges against him include seven counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, two counts of statutory rape, two counts of rape, and one count of aggravated sexual battery involving a child under 13.
His last known location was in South Nashville.
7. Deshawn M. Shurick

Deshawn Shurick, 31, is the only new addition to the list this week.
According to MNDP, Shurick is wanted on numerous charges, including aggravated rape resulting in bodily injury, especially aggravated kidnapping resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of kidnapping with the risk of bodily injury, two counts of aggravated assault, domestic assault and assault with bodily injury.
His last location is not known to authorities, MNPD said.
8. Jamal S. Alhakari

Jamal Alhakari, 41, is wanted by the MNPD after having been indicted by a grand jury on multiple sexual abuse charges involving a victim who was unable to give consent.
The charges against him include aggravated kidnapping, sexual battery and sexual battery involving a person with a mental defect or that was incapacitated, according to the police department.
Alhakari was added to Nashville’s “Most Wanted” list on Sept. 11. Officials said his last location is unknown.
9. Jacobi Vaughn-Moore

Jacobi Vaughn-Moore, 32, is wanted on a grand jury indictment for aiding and abetting aggravated rape.
This is his third week on the “Most Wanted” list, having been added on Nov. 6.
His last location is unknown to authorities.
10. Emad T. Mansour

Emad Mansour, 28, was first added to the list last week. According to police, Mansour is wanted on a number of charges, including six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault by strangulation.

Most socially connected counties in Tennessee
In today's digital age, social media platforms enable people to bridge geographic distances and connect with their friends, family, and community, no matter where they are. According to a 2022 Gallup and Meta study, at least 1 in 3 people across seven countries, including the U.S., said they used social media to interact with others at least once a day in the past week.
While social media has its drawbacks—such as pulling attention away from other tasks or fostering a problematic comparison culture—it remains a vital tool for helping people stay connected.
A majority of students in grades 3 to 12 said social media helped them develop relationships, learn social skills, and make a positive impact in their community, according to a 2024 report from The Social Institute.

Man accused of harassing customers, assaulting employees at different businesses in Davidson County
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man accused of harassing customers and assaulting employees at different businesses in Davidson County has been taken into custody.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the incidents unfolded on Wednesday, Nov. 13 after officers received multiple calls throughout night regarding 30-year-old Javon Erwin.
According to an arrest report, Erwin entered a restaurant earlier in the day, walked straight to an area where customers are not allowed and pushed an employee, telling her "I want that whoopin!"
The victim took a picture of Erwin and told officers that he was wearing a Wendy's shirt and blue jeans. MNPD said Erwin left the restaurant and then went to other local businesses where he continued to harass customers and employees.
A couple hours after that incident, police said they received multiple calls about a man who was standing in the middle of traffic yelling, forcing vehicles to swerve to avoid hitting him. However, police said they were unable to find the man.
Then, approximately an hour later, MNPD was advised about an assault that occurred at a store involving a man who was wearing a Wendy's shirt and blue jeans.
When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found two people holding Erwin down. He was then placed into custody and "refused to speak with officers and would not identify himself," officials said.
However, a witness told police that he was leaving a restaurant next door to the store when he saw Erwin assaulting the store's manager. The witness and store manager reportedly sustained cuts and bruises as they were attempting to restrain Erwin.
Due to obvious swelling on the store manager's face, an ambulance was called to the scene. The store manager allegedly told police that Erwin entered the store, yelled that he was "seeing dragons," and began attacking him for no reason.
At some point during the assault, Erwin is accused of wrapping his hands around the manager's neck, strangling him. Then, the 30-year-old began to throw punches, which is when the witness entered the store to help the manager.
According to an arrest report, video footage of the incident supported the witness and store manager's account of events.
Multiple people reportedly told officers that they believed Erwin was on some sort of illegal substance. However, police said "due to his unwillingness to cooperate with officers, they could not determine what Erwin may have taken."
Erwin was taken to the emergency room and later booked in Metro Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault-Strangulation, assault and public intoxication.
Court records show the 30-year-old is being held on a $22,000 bond.

'Cannot replace my dogs': Former Tennessee deputy charged after 7 dogs shot, killed
MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. (WREG/WKRN) -- A former McNairy County deputy is facing felony charges after another man's dogs were shot and killed last week, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The dogs' owner told News 2's sister station, WREG, that the animals were found dead after a deputy responded to an animal abuse call.
"I don't care what you do," Kevin Dismuke said. "I don't care if you give me $10 or if you give me $10 million. You cannot replace my dogs."
Dismuke did not want to appear on camera, but he still described what he found inside his RV on Monday, Nov. 4, including the dead dog laying just past the front door.
"Before I could step in the door and turn the light on, I stepped on him," Dismuke said. "He was laying right there at the door."
However, Dismuke did not hear his other dogs.
"I found our old dog, Gator, laying between the beds," Dismuke said. "I ain't heard Jasmine, I ain't heard Max, so I stepped back inside the trailer and I found Jasmine laying back there by the bathroom door. They're all dead -- all but Max. He'd hid under the bed."
According to Dismuke, seven dogs were killed. A neighbor told him a member of the McNairy County Sheriff's Office was responsible.
"They were told the property was abandoned and the dogs were malnourished," Dismuke said. "I've got the veterinary paperwork in my truck from three weeks ago. They all had a clean bill of health on them."
In a narrative released by the sheriff's office, Deputy Connor Brackin reported dogs in two trailers that appeared to be in "extremely poor health." The dogs were allegedly without food and water, some of them could barely walk, and one was "already deceased."
Officials also stated that attempts were made to find the owners and find homes for the dogs. A neighbor reportedly came and took one of the dogs before a deputy said, "I was cleared to put down the remaining animals safely by my supervisor."
Around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, several TBI agents arrived. They sealed off the area and designated it a crime scene as they began to look into what exactly happened.
"Explain to me why he done what he done," Dismuke said. "That's the million-dollar question. I don't have any rhyme or reason behind what he done."
WREG attempted numerous times to reach Sheriff Guy Buck but hasn't had any success.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the TBI shared additional information about the investigation, saying 25th Judicial District Attorney General Mark Davidson requested the bureau's involvement three days after the dogs were killed.
According to officials, TBI agents learned the sheriff's office received an animal welfare concern call on Nov. 4, so Brackin responded to the 8300 block of State Route 199 in Bethel Springs to check on the dogs' condition.
The 24-year-old deputy reportedly released one of the dogs to the complainant. However, for reasons that are still under investigation, authorities said Brackin fired his duty weapon, shooting and killing seven dogs on the property.
The TBI said it obtained warrants for Brackin on Tuesday, charging him with seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. The now-former deputy turned himself in and was booked into the McNairy County Jail.
No additional details have been released about this case.

Man charged for multiple domestic crimes added to Metro Nashville's 'Most Wanted' list
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man wanted for aggravated burglary, aggravated stalking, a violation of a no-contact order and domestic assault is the latest suspect to appear on the list of "Most Wanted" fugitives from the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Each Wednesday the department publishes a list of the “Most Wanted” fugitives on its Criminal Warrants Division’s Facebook page. According to detectives, those featured on the list are often considered to be some of the “most violent” offenders in the city.
Some of the people on the list have reportedly been on the run for months, while others are a bit fresher faces. However, the list has aided police in several arrests.
Since the list was first published in 2022, 146 people featured on the list have been apprehended, including two in the last week wanted for child endangerment and animal cruelty crimes. According to MNPD, 60 individuals who have appeared on the list have been arrested this year.
One person who made their first appearance on the list last week surrendered on Election Day, and another was apprehended out of county earlier in October, according to MNPD.
Below is a list of the suspects who made the police department’s “Most Wanted” list for the week of Nov. 6, 2024.
1. Dadiri Muhina

Dadiri Muhina is making his ninth appearance on the list this week. According to MNPD, Muhina is still considered the “Top Most Wanted” fugitive.
According to police, Muhina is wanted after being indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple felony counts. His charges include first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, solicitation to commit first-degree murder, attempted murder and tampering with evidence.
Court records show the charges stem from a September 2021 shooting that killed 16-year-old Janiya Birdsong and injured another 17-year-old. Family members told News 2 multiple young men were involved in an argument with the two teens before shots rang out.
Birdsong died at the scene in her grandmother’s Paragon Mills driveway. She was a junior at Hillsboro High School and hoped to become a hairstylist, according to family.
While initially the only link to a suspect was a light-colored sedan seen leaving, six people—including Muhina—have since been identified.
2. Adrian L. Cameron

Adrian Cameron, 19, has been on the run since April, according to the MNPD.
While the interaction began “cordial,” according to King’s friends, the three eventually tried to rob them. That’s when gunfire rang out, injuring King and his 29-year-old friend.
Both were brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but King did not survive.
Cameron, who was out on bond for the 2021 murder of 50-year-old Josh Evans at the time, was identified as a suspect in the shooting days later.
Officials believe Cameron cut his ankle monitor shortly after the shooting. Cameron had just turned 17 years old when police said he turned himself in for Evans’ murder. Evans was found shot and wrapped in trash bags in the Cumberland River in Sept. 2021.
Cameron was arrested again for gun charges in Rutherford County less than four months after turning himself in for the 2021 murder. He’s now charged with criminal homicide in connection with King’s death, as well as failure to appear.
However, efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful. Police said his last location is unknown.
3. Lagarrion L. Blacksmith

Lagarrion Blacksmith, 35, has been toward the top of the department’s “Most Wanted” list for nearly a year as police continue their search for him.
He was initially added to the list Nov. 29, 2023, after investigators were able to connect him to a deadly shooting that took place outside a Dickerson Pike bar last year.

Officers found 35-year-old Chancellor Eddins lying on the ground just outside of Trvth Lounge on Feb.
Months later, investigators announced Blacksmith had been identified as a suspect. On Nov. 22, 2023, officials said arrest warrants had been issued against Blacksmith for criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and felon in possession of a handgun.
However, efforts to locate him have also reportedly been unsuccessful. His last location is unknown.
4. Raceme L. Crutcher

Police have been looking for Raceme Crutcher, 22, since July 2023, when he was named as one of two suspects in a deadly Fourth of July shooting.
Officials said the shooting happened at the Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road. Etabo Malanda, 16, was reportedly standing on the porch of an apartment when two armed individuals came from around the corner and confronted him.
Malanda allegedly tried to pull out a pistol that was inside his hoodie, but he was shot.
However, Crutcher is still on the run. He was added to the “Most Wanted” list on Nov. 15, 2023. His last location is unknown.
5. Shakia N. Davidson

Shakia Davidson, 23, made her first appearance on the list last week. She is wanted for criminal homicide and failure to appear, according to the MNPD.
Davidson is wanted in connection to a deadly September shooting that took place in the Napier area of Nashville.
According to MNPD, officers found Dorothy Stephenson, 32, in the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Tahoe with a gunshot wound shortly after 2 a.m. on Sept. 8. Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later announced Davidson was wanted for her role in the shooting. They said she and Stephenson were acquaintances and were involved in an argument on Green Street.
Davidson was last seen in Mt. Juliet, according to MNPD.
6. Fredy Sanchez-Argueta

Fredy Sanchez-Argueta is in his fourth week on the “Most Wanted” list. According to police, Sanchez-Argueta is wanted on outstanding warrants for 12 sex crimes charges.
Charges against him include seven counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, two counts of statutory rape, two counts of rape, and one count of aggravated sexual battery involving a child under 13.
His last known location was in South Nashville.
7. Jamal S.

11, 2024. Officials said his last location is unknown.
8. Jacobi Vaughn-Moore

According to police, Jacobi Vaughn-Moore, 32, is wanted on a grand jury indictment for aiding an abetting aggravated rape.
Vaughn-Moore is the first new addition to the "Most Wanted" list this week.
Police do not know where he was last seen.
9. Richard L. Jarrett

Richard Jarrett, 20, is wanted for multiple domestic charges, according to the police department. This is his third week on the list.
Jarrett’s charges include burglary, stalking, harassment through repetitive calls, domestic assault with fear of bodily injury, and a probation violation.
Both the stalking and harassment charges are Class A misdemeanors in the state of Tennessee. The burglary charge is a felony.
Police said Jarrett’s last known location was Antioch.
10. Marquise A. Willis

Marquise Willis, 29, is the second new addition to the list this week. According to Metro Police, Willis is wanted for two counts of aggravated burglary as well as aggravated stalking, three violations of a no-contact order of protection and domestic assault - fear of bodily injury.
