NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A known street racer has been arrested for performing dangerous stunts in South Nashville, officials said.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), 25-year-old David Scott Smith of Hermitage, was arrested Monday, Feb. 5 following two unsanctioned car meetups that allegedly happened last summer.


Authorities reported MNPD's Traffic investigators identified Smith as the driver responsible for dangerous stunts that were performed at intersections in South Nashville.

Smith was taken into custody after he surrendered and his 2008 Ford Mustang was impounded Monday, police said.
According to MNPD, Smith is believed to be part of a street racer group with ties to Nashville and Maury County.
He faces two counts of felony reckless endangerment and two counts of rioting, officials said.
"The MNPD Traffic Division is committed to continuing its investigations into street racer groups that are causing damage and harm through their dangerous driving." said MNPD in a statement.
