NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - The Grammys have already come and gone, but the impact is still being felt in Middle Tennessee.
Two students from Tennessee State University (TSU) were selected to attend music's biggest night — all expenses paid.
The invitation was made possible by the Quinn Coleman Scholarship and the Recording Academy.
Out of five recipients for the prestigious award, two were selected from TSU, Emmanuel Strickland and Dilan Hoskins.
Each student had the chance to walk the red carpets, network with industry executives, and attend the 66th Grammy awards.
Strickland, whose stage name is Milly Manny, told News 2 this was just the inspiration he needed.
"It was inspiring beyond measures, because it's like, you're seeing it from the outside looking in, essentially, and for me, it just gave me hope and a realization that I'm going to be on the stage one day holding a Grammy," said Strickland. " Just seeing it in person really just motivated me."
The aspiring rapper said his favorite part of the award show was listening to Jay Z's speech and witnessing so much young talent in the room.
"I'm just seeing the new up-and-coming artists win awards, like people that are my age," said Strickland. "It just made me realize that, you know, I'm not too far."
