NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A crash led to a man's arrest after police discovered alcohol, drugs and a handgun inside the vehicle.
The incident took place on Friday, Feb. 2 after officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Clarksville Pike near Old Clarksville Pike.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers reported they smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the driver — identified as Cody Stubblefield.
According to an arrest affidavit, Stubblefield's children, aged 5 and 10, were both inside the vehicle when the crash occurred.
According to Metro police, when officers asked Stubblefield what happened, he allegedly told them "his vehicle suddenly jerked to the right causing him to crash into the roadside ditch."
While speaking with Stubblefield, officers observed him to be unsteady on his feet, have watery eyes and speaking with slurred speech.

Police said Stubblefield was detained on suspicion of Driving under the Influence (DUI) and searched.
During the search, officers stated they found a plastic baggie containing 20.5 grams of a powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, a cigarette box that contained 1.6 grams of a white powdery substance and a loaded handgun.
In addition to the drugs and handgun, officers also found a glass pipe with black residue on one end and a cooler with 16 oz. cans of Miller Lite beer that was allegedly within reach of the driver's seat.
According to an arrest report, one of the beer cans was open, partially empty and still cold to the touch.
Stubblefield performed a field sobriety test where he reportedly displayed multiple indicators of impairment.
He was taken into custody and faces a list of charges which includes, possession of a handgun while under the influence, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, drug possession and DUI.
