TN AMBER Alert: Why some people received multiple alerts for missing teen
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Amid an ongoing search for a teen missing from Sumner County, some people appeared to encounter issues with an AMBER Alert that was sent out to help find him.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) originally issued an Endangered Child Alert for 15-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers after he was reported missing on Monday, Feb. 26 from the Beech area in Hendersonville.
However, the alert level was upgraded to an AMBER Alert on Tuesday, Feb. 27 as the urgency of the search continued to increase. After receiving the initial alert around 3 p.m. that evening, several people continued to receive alerts into Wednesday afternoon.
Some people reported receiving up to six alerts within that time span. According to the TBI, there was only one AMBER Alert issued, but a "provider issue" likely caused some people to receive multiple alerts.

The TBI coordinates with the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children to send out alerts when a missing child is potentially in danger, with a spokesperson for the TBI telling News 2, "Cell phone alerts are meant to be one of the many ways we share information about these types of critical situations."
Still, some Tennesseans also reported having trouble accessing a web address in the alert that was meant to link back to the TBI's Facebook page in order to give people a description and photo of the missing teen.
According to the TBI, authorities have discussed options to handle an influx of web traffic amid AMBER Alerts, and at this time, Facebook remains the best option.
"Non-users are able to view public posts without having an active Facebook profile," a spokesperson for the TBI said. "We are constantly reviewing other methods available, and while Facebook may not be a convenient option for everyone, it's meant to augment the other notification tools we have available to us."
Smart phone users can also download the MyTN app to receive information. As of Thursday morning, Sebastian Rogers was still missing. A massive search has been underway since Monday. Click here for more coverage of Sebastian Rogers.

Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers, 15, was reported missing on Monday, Feb. 26 from the Beech area in Hendersonville.
Sebastian Rogers: Description
Sebastian is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 120 pounds with dirty blond hair. He was last seen on Monday, Feb. 26 near Stafford Court wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants, said the TBI.
AMBER Alert Issued
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) originally issued an Endangered Child Alert for Sebastian on the morning of Feb. 26 as multiple agencies took to the area to look for him.
Based on additional investigative information developed during the search, the TBI issued an AMBER Alert for Sebastian on the afternoon of Feb. 27. An AMBER Alert is issued when there is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred and the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death, per the DOJ.
Multiple agencies including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Nashville Fire Department, City of Hendersonville’s first responders, Sumner County Sheriff’s Office and Shackle Island Volunteer Fire have assisted in the search for Sebastian.
Who to Contact
If you have seen Sebastian or have info about his whereabouts, call the Sumner County Sheriff's Office at (615) 451-3838 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Nashville's 'Top 10 Most Wanted' fugitives: Week of Feb. 28, 2024
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department is continuing to try to track down a number of wanted fugitives, including a man who was previously the subject of a massive manhunt in Cheatham County.
The police department's Criminal Warrants Division maintains a list of the city's "Top 10 Most Wanted" fugitives, which is updated every Wednesday on the division's Facebook page. The list features men and women who police said are considered to be some of the "most violent" offenders in Nashville.
Of the suspects on this week’s list, almost half are wanted on homicide, attempted homicide or murder charges. The rest of Nashville’s “Most Wanted” suspects are accused of crimes such as rape, child abuse, burglary, carjacking and aggravated assault.
Typically, suspects are featured on the list for multiple weeks or months up until their arrests. However, two men who previously appeared on the “Most Wanted” list were added back to the list last week after being indicted on multiple charges following their arrests last year.
Another new suspect on the list, Ricky Roach, was indicted on multiple charges out of Davidson County nearly two years after leading authorities on a massive manhunt in Cheatham County.
While the search for these suspects continues, the “Most Wanted” list has aided police in several arrests, with seven suspects taken into custody just this month. One of those people was Glenwan Hobson Jr., who had reportedly been on the run for more than a year after being linked to a Madison shooting that left one man injured.
In total, at least 90 people who have appeared on the “Most Wanted” list have been arrested since the program was launched in October 2022. Authorities have largely attributed the program’s success to tips from the public.
Below is a list of the suspects who made the police department’s “Top 10 Most Wanted” list the week of Feb. 28.
1. Lagarrion L. Blacksmith

At number one, Lagarrion Blacksmith, 34, is considered this week’s “Top Most Wanted” fugitive, according to the MNPD. He was added to the list on Nov. 29, 2023, after police were reportedly able to connect him to a deadly shooting that took place outside a Dickerson Pike bar last year.
Officers said they found 35-year-old Chancellor Eddins lying on the ground just outside of Trvth Lounge on Feb. 18, 2023. He had been shot and later died at the scene. Another man who had also been hit by the gunfire was able to give officers an account of what happened.
According to police, the injured man told them he and Eddins had gotten into an argument with the suspect inside of the bar. Then, shots were fired as they left the location. At the time, the identity of the alleged shooter was unclear.
Months later, investigators announced Blacksmith had been identified as a suspect. On Nov. 22, 2023, officials said arrest warrants had been issued against Blacksmith for criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and felon in possession of a handgun.
However, efforts to locate him have reportedly been unsuccessful. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the MNPD at 615-862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
2. Raceme Crutcher

Police have been looking for Raceme Crutcher, 21, since July 2023, when he was named as one of two suspects in a deadly Fourth of July shooting.
Officials said the shooting happened at the Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road. Etabo Malanda, 16, was reportedly standing on the porch of an apartment when two armed individuals came from around the corner and confronted him.
Malanda allegedly tried to pull out a pistol that was inside his hoodie, but he was shot. Police said he died shortly after he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to investigators, four guns were recovered from the apartment, including one that was reported stolen. Crutcher and 17-year-old Jaylin Brown were reportedly connected to the crime through witness accounts.
Investigators also obtained surveillance footage and additional information from community members that they said pointed to Crutcher and Brown as suspects in the case. Officials believe the motive may have been an ongoing dispute between the suspects and Malanda.
Brown was taken into custody on Aug. 31, 2023, after police reportedly caught him driving a stolen car. However, authorities said Crutcher is still on the run. He was added to the “Most Wanted” list on Nov. 15, 2023. His last location is unknown.
3. Kejuan Jordan-Cole

Kejuan Jordan-Cole, 21, is believed to be one of seven suspects involved in another deadly shooting on the Fourth of July, according to officials.
Investigators said the victim, 27-year-old Christopher L. Harris, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his vehicle on Buena Vista Pike. Witnesses told police a group of young men approached Harris and around seven of them opened fire.
Harris was reportedly struck by the gunfire while standing next to his vehicle. Officers told News 2 as many as 100 rounds may have been fired during the incident.
The suspects — one of whom appeared to be shooting a rifle — left the scene in three separate vehicles, officials reported. Since the shooting, authorities have arrested and charged 16-year-old Jaden Wright, 17-year-old Erion Nesbitt, 16-year-old Kentrell Baugh and 23-year-old Deandre Jordan.
However, police said Jordan-Cole, who was identified as a suspect on Aug. 16, 2023, is still on the run. The charges against him include criminal homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He was added to the list on Dec. 13, 2023. Officials said his last location is unknown.
4. Tyrone D. Walker

Tyrone Walker, 29, has repeatedly appeared on the list since July 12, 2023, after being named in a grand jury indictment charging him with first-degree murder.
Police said the charge is related to the August 2021 shooting death of Cecil Holmes Jr. The 39-year-old was reportedly found dead in the Edgehill Homes parking lot on 11th Avenue South after being shot multiple times.
Further investigation into Holmes’s death led to the identification of Walker as the suspected gunman, officials reported.
In addition to the murder charge, Walker has also been indicted on charges of felon in possession of a weapon, felony probation violation and four counts of failure to appear. Police said his last location is unknown.
5. Michael A. Yarlett

Michael Yarlett, 28, is wanted on three counts of aided and abetted rape, according to police. Court documents indicate he is one of two suspects in the incident, which happened in September 2022. Yarlett was added to the “Most Wanted” list on Nov. 22, 2023. Officials said his last location is unknown.
6. Cameron J. Glenn

While he was added to the list last week, this isn’t the first time Cameron Glenn, 32, has appeared on the "Most Wanted" list. Glenn was initially added to the list in November 2022 following several alleged domestic violence incidents involving the same victim.
Glenn was accused of strangling and beating the woman on three separate occasions, causing visible injuries to her face, including redness, abrasions and a missing tooth. In one incident, authorities said Glenn pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her if she didn’t do what he said.
Glenn was on the run until May 1, 2023, when officers found him at an apartment in the James Cayce neighborhood. After his arrest, Glenn was being held on a $60,000 bond. However, court records show many of the charges Glenn was initially arrested for have since been dismissed.
Now, police are looking for Glenn again following a grand jury indictment. The charges he’s been indicted on include aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault by strangulation, child abuse, domestic assault and interference with an emergency call.
Authorities said his last location is unknown.
7. Amare M. Ramey

Amare Ramey, 18, was also added back to the “Most Wanted” list last week after initially being arrested on July 10, 2023. He first appeared on the list on June 7, 2023, after he was named as a suspect in a May 13, 2023, shooting on River Drive that left one person injured.
According to police, a teen reported that her boyfriend had been shot in the shoulder while sleeping in his bedroom. After about a month on the run, undercover detectives said they spotted Ramey in a car that had been reported stolen near 12th Avenue South and South Street.
The driver reportedly sped off when authorities tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Ramey and two other people were taken into custody after police said the car came to a stop at a closed business and the three suspects got out and began running.
Ramey was initially booked into jail on a $100,000 bond but has since been released. He is now wanted again following a grand jury indictment. The charges he’s been indicted on include aggravated burglary, evading arrest, evading arrest with risk of injury, reckless endangerment, carjacking, vandalism and two weapons offenses.
When he was first added to the list Ramey was the youngest person to ever appear among Nashville’s “Most Wanted” fugitives, and he continues to be one of the youngest on the list. Officials said his last location is unknown.
8. John R. Etter III

John Etter III, 46, is wanted on four outstanding warrants, officials reported. The charges against him include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated child endangerment, child endangerment and failure to appear. Etter was added to the list on Jan. 24. His last location is unknown.
9. Ricky C. Roach

Ricky Roach, 42, is a new addition to the list this week. Police said Roach, who was the subject of a massive manhunt in Cheatham County in 2022, has been indicted on multiple charges out of Davidson County.
Those charges include aggravated burglary, aggravated burglary acting in concert and theft of property less than $250,000. Court records show those offenses date back to March 4, 2022 — only about two months before he escaped from corrections officers at an Ashland City hospital.
At the time, Roach was reportedly serving jail time in Cheatham County for a parole violation. Cheatham County court records indicate that Roach has previously pled guilty to charges for robbery, assault, theft and contempt of court.
After hours of searching, the May 26, 2022, manhunt ended when a reserve off duty Ashland City police officer spotted Roach and held him at gunpoint until other officers arrived.
Following his arrest, Cheatham County Sheriff Lt. Ken Miller told News 2, “I’ve been dealing with Mr. Roach for quite some time, pretty much my whole career here actually."
Now, Metro Nashville police are looking for Roach in connection with more alleged crimes across county lines. Authorities said his last location is unknown.
10. Joseph Cavaleri

Joseph Cavaleri, 39, is wanted by the MNPD on outstanding warrants for five counts of burglary, three counts of theft of property, criminal impersonation, and four counts of failure to appear. Cavaleri was added to the list on Feb. 7. Authorities said he was last seen in the Central precinct.
Anyone with information on any of the suspects listed is asked to contact the MNPD at 615-862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

Tennessee state symbols you might not know
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee now has an official state food—hot slaw.
A bill making the vinegary and mustardy dish the first official state food got its final approval on Thursday, Feb. 22. Hot slaw will be joining the ranks of other state symbols that include flowers, birds, trees, and animals—as well as some of the more random “official” symbols.
State Beverage: Milk

When you think of Tennessee drinks, whiskey might be the first thing that comes to mind. But the official state beverage is actually milk. The dairy product was designated as a state symbol in 2009. According to the Tennessee State Library and Archives, the state’s dairy industry produced nearly 100 million pounds of milk in 2007, totaling more than $200 million in cash.
State Fruit: Tomato

The tomato became Tennessee's official state fruit back in 2003. "While commonly considered, and commonly functioning as, a vegetable, the tomato is, botanically speaking, a fruit," according to the state's website.
State Motto
Tennessee’s motto — “Agriculture and Commerce” — comes from the wording used on the state's official seal. It was officially adopted in 1987.
State Slogan
Did you know Tennessee also has a slogan? “Tennessee—America at Its Best."
The phrase was adopted as the official Tennessee slogan in 1965.
State Dog: Bluetick Coonhound

One of Tennessee's most recent state symbols, the Bluetick Coonhound was named the official state dog in 2019. The Bluetick Coonhounds were known for hunting and the protection they offered to early settlers in Tennessee. Today, these dogs are used for raccoon and even bear hunting, according to the state’s Blue Book.
State Pet
Tennessee also has declared an official state pet. The General Assembly designated "any dog or cat adopted from a Tennessee animal shelter or rescue" as the official state pet in 2014.
State Rifle: Barrett Model M82/M107
The Barrett Model M82/M107 was designated as Tennessee’s official rifle in 2016. According to the Tennessee Blue Book, the rifle has been continuously manufactured in the state since its inception in 1982.
State Beef Festival: Here's the Beef Festival
Yes, that's right, Tennessee has an official beef festival. The "Here's the Beef Festival" in Giles County was named the state's official beef festival in 2018.
State Artifact: Sandy

The statue, known as “Sandy,” was discovered in 1939 on Sellers Farm in Wilson County. The artifact is a prehistoric Native American statue made of sandstone. It became Tennessee's official state artifact in 2014.
State Folk Dance: Square Dance
In 1980, the General Assembly designated the square dance as the official state folk dance. Public Chapter 829 of the Acts of the 91st General Assembly called the dance, “a uniquely attractive art form that remains a vibrant and entertaining part of Tennessee folklore.”
On the same day hot slaw became Tennessee's first official state food, the House also voted to designate Brenda Lee's "Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree" as the first official state holiday song.
Lee recorded the Christmas classic when she was only 13 years old on Music Row in 1958. Last December, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, 65 years after its initial release.

Man facing 42 charges after Metro police link him to another burglary
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A serial burglary suspect who was arrested last week is now facing several additional charges after Metro Nashville police said they were able to connect him to yet another crime.
Ronald McKnight, 43, was listed among Nashville's "Most Wanted" fugitives for more than a year before his arrest on Feb. 14, 2024. At the time, he was wanted on 32 outstanding warrants related to a series of burglaries dating back to September 2022.
Some of the charges against him also stem from a Jan. 20, 2023, case in which he was accused of breaking into a Goodlettsville home and robbing a woman at gunpoint. However, officials said McKnight continued to elude capture for some time, "despite intensive investigative work.”
Detectives finally tracked McKnight down after he was spotted driving near Buena Vista Pike on his birthday. Police followed him to an apartment complex on Heritage Drive, where he reportedly tried to run away, but was quickly apprehended.

Afterward, he was charged with two additional offenses for evading arrest and allegedly possessing around 20 grams of cocaine, bringing the total number of charges against him to 34 — just shy of three dozen.
However, more charges were recently filed against McKnight after officials said they were able to connect him to another burglary that happened on Jan. 5, 2024. In an arrest affidavit, police said a woman parked her car at Shelby Bottoms Park and went for a walk.
She returned about 45 minutes later to find her rear passenger window broken out. The front passenger window also appeared to have damage from someone trying to break in. Items taken from inside the woman's vehicle included her purse, medication and credit cards.
The woman was later notified that her cards had been used at a Kroger on Gallatin Pike and a Walmart on Dickerson Pike, the affidavit said. Video surveillance footage from the stores reportedly helped detectives connect McKnight to the crime.
Investigators said he could be seen wearing a light-colored sweatsuit, sock cap, tan work boots, and a face mask, but the key identifier was allegedly tattoos on the back of his hand. Photos of the tattoos were disseminated to other officers, who reportedly confirmed they were McKnight's.
Altogether, McKnight is now facing 42 charges. As of Thursday, Feb. 22, he remained behind bars in Davidson County. McKnight is among 89 "Most Wanted" fugitives who have been taken into custody since the program was launched in October 2022.
Authorities have largely attributed the program's success to tips from the public. To view this week's list of "Most Wanted" fugitives out of Nashville, click here.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Authorities have arrested a driver more than eight months after a crash that resulted in the death of a teenager in South Nashville.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the crash took place on June 9, 2023, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 at the Haywood Lane ramp.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a Honda Accord was traveling east, when for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a Ford Fusion head on, which caused the Ford to lose control as well.
Authorities reported both vehicles swerved between lanes before coming to a final rest. The driver of the Ford, identified as 17-year-old Sofia Balk of Chesterfield, Missouri— was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20 officials announced that 23-year-old Aidan Chenoweth, the driver of the Honda, was arrested for the crash.

Two charged in shooting at Chiefs' Super Bowl rally
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) - Two juveniles have been charged in Wednesday's shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl rally, and more charges are expected.
Jackson County family court says the Office of the Juvenile Officer filed charges against two juveniles Friday.
The court says the suspects are currently at the Juvenile Detention Center on gun-related and resisting arrest charges. The court's office said in a news release that the charges were filed Thursday and more charges are expected as Kansas City police continue to investigate.
It is unknown at this time when the juveniles are due in court. The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office told Nexstar's WDAF on Thursday that the juveniles will be charged as adults if and when they are certified to stand trial as adults. They have not been identified, nor have their ages been given.
The charges come after 23 people were shot at the conclusion of the Super Bowl rally Wednesday, leaving one woman dead.
Police Chief Stacey Graves said a dispute between several people led to the shooting. She stressed a preliminary investigation shows no connection to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism.
On Thursday, police confirmed 43-year-old Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan was killed in the shooting. She was a DJ and host of Taste of Tejano at local radio station KKFI.
"Our hearts and prayers are with her family," the station wrote on Facebook. "This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community."
The 23 shooting victims ranged in age from 8 to 47, and over half of them were under the age of 16, police said.

Shooting after Chiefs Super Bowl parade seemed to stem from dispute among several people, police say
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in Kansas City said Thursday that the mass shooting that unfolded amid throngs of people at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration appeared to stem from a dispute between several people.
Police Chief Stacey Graves said that the 22 people injured in the shooting ranged between the ages of 8 and 47 years old, half of whom were under the age of 16. A mother of two was also killed.
Three people were detained — including two are juveniles — and firearms were recovered during the mayhem, police said. But investigators are calling for witnesses, people with cellphone footage and victims of the violence to call a dedicated hotline.
"We are working to determine the involvement of others. And it should be noted we have recovered several firearms. This incident is still a very active investigation,” Graves said at a news conference.
The shooting outside Union Station occurred despite the presence of more than 800 police officers who were in the building and nearby, including on top of nearby structures, said Mayor Quinton Lucas, who attended with his wife and mother and ran for safety when the shots rang out. But he doesn't expect to cancel upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parade.
“We have parades all the time. I don’t think they’ll end. Certainly we recognized the public safety challenges and issues that relate to them,” Lucas said.
Throngs had lined the parade route before the shooting, with fans climbing trees and street poles or standing on rooftops for a better view. Players rolled through the crowd on double-decker buses, as DJs and drummers heralded their arrival.
It's unclear exactly how many people attended the Chief's Super Bowl parade. When the Kansas City Royals won the World Series in 2015, an estimated 800,000 people had flocked to that victory parade, shattering expectations in a city with a population of about 470,000 and a metropolitan area of about 2 million.
Witnesses described confusion as gunshots began, sounding to some like fireworks.
Some people didn’t run at first but others immediately scrambled for cover. The rally music initially continued playing despite the havoc. And then, within moments of the shooting stopping, some people were walking as if nothing happened.
Gene Hamilton, 61, of Wichita, Kansas, said he found it unnerving that the upbeat rally music continued among the confusion.
“If people are shooting, they should change the music,” he said.
Ashley Coderre, a 36-year-old from Overland Park, Kansas, said she heard two or three shots after walking out of a Panera near Crown Center, a couple blocks from Union Station. She said people were running and yelling.
Then suddenly she said people were walking around like nothing had happened: “We were so confused.”
It is the latest sports celebration in the U.S. to be marred by gun violence, following a shooting that wounded several people last year in Denver after the Nuggets' NBA championship and gunfire last year at a parking lot near the Texas Rangers' World Series championship parade.
Social media users posted shocking video of police running through Wednesday's crowded scene as people scrambled for cover and fled. One video showed someone apparently performing chest compressions on a victim as another person, seemingly writhing in pain, lay on the ground nearby. People screamed in the background.
Another video showed two people chase and tackle a person, holding them down until two police officers arrived. In an interview Thursday with ABC's “Good Morning America,” Trey Filter of Wichita, Kansas, said he saw someone being chased and took action.
“I couldn’t see much. I heard, ‘Get 'em!’ I saw a flash next to me. And I remember I jumped and remember thinking, ‘I hope this is the fool they were talking about,'" he said. “They started yelling that, ‘There’s a gun! There’s a gun!’"
Filter said he and another man kept the person pinned down until officers arrived. "I remember the officers pulling my feet off of him and at that point I was just looking for my wife and kids,” he said.
It was not immediately clear if the person he held down was involved in the shooting, but Filter's wife, Casey, saw a gun nearby and picked it up.
The woman killed in the shooting was identified by radio station KKFI-FM as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of “Taste of Tejano."
Lopez-Galvan, whose DJ name was “Lisa G,” was an extrovert and devoted mother from a prominent Latino family in the area, said Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez, two childhood friends who worked with her at a staffing company.
“She's the type of person who would jump in front of a bullet for anybody — that would be Lisa,” Izurieta said.
Kansas City has long struggled with gun violence, and in 2020 it was among nine cities targeted by the U.S. Justice Department in an effort to crack down on violent crime. In 2023, the city matched a record with 182 homicides, most of which involved guns.
Lucas has joined with mayors across the country in calling for new laws to reduce gun violence, including mandating universal background checks.
“We did everything to make this event as safe as possible,” Lucas, a Democrat, said in an interview on KMBC-TV Thursday. "But as long as we have fools who will commit these types of acts, as long as we have their access to firearms with this level of capacity, then we may see incidents like this one.”
The parade and rally were the third in five years after Chiefs' Super Bowl wins. Lucas said it may be time to reconsider how to handle the next one if they win again, perhaps holding a “vastly smaller event” at Arrowhead Stadium, with fans going through metal detectors.
Lisa Money of Kansas City was trying to gather some confetti near the end of the parade when she heard somebody yell, “Down, down, everybody down!” At first she thought it might be a joke, until she saw the SWAT team jumping over the fence.
“I can’t believe it really happened,” Money said. “Who in their right mind would do something like this?”
University Health spokesperson Leslie Carto said two of the eight gunshot victims brought to the hospital are still in critical condition. One is in stable condition. The other five have been discharged. The hospital also treated four people from the rally who had nongunshot injuries. Three of those patients were discharged, Carto said.
Stephanie Meyer, chief nursing officer for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, said it was treating 12 patients from the rally, including 11 children between the ages of 6 and 15, many of whom suffered gunshot wounds. All were expected to recover, she said.
When asked about the condition of the children, Meyer responded: “Fear. The one word I would use to describe what we saw and how they came to us was fear.”
St. Luke’s Hospital spokesperson Emily Hohenberg said one gunshot victim at the hospital remains in critical condition. Four people who suffered injuries while fleeing the aftermath of the shooting were treated and released.
Associated Press writers Scott McFetridge in Des Moines, Iowa; Jim Salter in St. Louis; Josh Funk in Omaha, Nebraska; Summer Ballentine in Columbia, Missouri; and John Hanna in Topeka, Kansas, contributed to this report.

Attempted rape suspect arrested after found hiding in South Nashville church
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Arrest records are revealing more about the arrest of a man who allegedly attempted to rape a woman while she was running on the Cumberland River Greenway.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), 43-year-old Christopher Chapman attacked a 25-year-old woman on Sunday, Feb. 4 as she was running on the greenway.

Authorities reported Chapman grabbed the woman, put her in a chokehold, threw her into a fence and got on top of her before a witness intervened and pulled him away.
On Feb. 9, officials announced that Chapman was identified by the victim from a photo lineup and after "analysis of evidence by MNPD crime lab scientists."
However, investigators said he was jailed a day after the attack when a police K-9 team arrested him for breaking into a church in South Nashville.
A new arrest report details that the 49-year-old was found inside Jesus Only Tabernacle on Glenrose Avenue.
According to MNPD, a K-9 unit found Chapman in a back office of the church.
When asked how he got inside the building, he allegedly told officers that he used a brick to break the window.
A witness said prior to the incident, they observed Chapman yelling in the middle of street as he tried to break into another building but failed.
Jesus Only Tabernacle Pastor Doug Baggett told News 2 Chapman was found in his office lying on cushions from a couch.
An arrest report states Chapman was taken to General Hospital to be treated for a K-9 bite after he was placed into custody.
Chapman remains jailed on attempted rape and aggravated criminal trespassing charges, police said.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Two young heroes in Clarksville are being recognized and celebrated for their acts of bravery that are credited for saving their grandfather’s life.
Clarksville Cub Scouts Christopher and William Schroeder were recently awarded the Medal of Merit during Cub Scout Pack 503’s annual Blue and Gold Banquet held on Friday, Feb. 9. for their courage and quick thinking.
Back in May of 2023, the boys’ grandfather went from feeling ill to full cardiac arrest. The scouts sprang into action and advised their grandmother to call 911, according to Cubmaster Chris Williams.
After their grandmother called 911, William instructed her where to put her hands and together they performed CPR for 3 minutes and 42 seconds before first responders arrived.

While the two performed CPR, Christopher — who was in kindergarten at the time — ran outside and directed emergency responders to their locations, said their cubmaster.
In a statement, Cubmaster Williams expressed how proud he was of the boys efforts and expressed the significance of the award.
"In my 30 plus years of Scouting, I have only read about this award in Scout’s Life magazine," said Williams. "I’ve never seen one, much less had the privilege of awarding such a prestigious award. To say I’m proud of these two Scouts is an understatement. Their act of bravery underscores the vital life skills we impart to our young Scouts. This is a testament to the impact of Scouting on young lives, fostering not just outdoor skills but real-world lifesaving actions."
Since the incident, the boys’ grandfather has since recovered and even participated in a canoe trip and several campouts with his grandsons.

Scholarship helps send TSU students to the Grammys
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - The Grammys have already come and gone, but the impact is still being felt in Middle Tennessee.
Two students from Tennessee State University (TSU) were selected to attend music's biggest night — all expenses paid.
The invitation was made possible by the Quinn Coleman Scholarship and the Recording Academy.
Out of five recipients for the prestigious award, two were selected from TSU, Emmanuel Strickland and Dilan Hoskins.
Each student had the chance to walk the red carpets, network with industry executives, and attend the 66th Grammy awards.
Strickland, whose stage name is Milly Manny, told News 2 this was just the inspiration he needed.
"It was inspiring beyond measures, because it's like, you're seeing it from the outside looking in, essentially, and for me, it just gave me hope and a realization that I'm going to be on the stage one day holding a Grammy," said Strickland. " Just seeing it in person really just motivated me."
The aspiring rapper said his favorite part of the award show was listening to Jay Z's speech and witnessing so much young talent in the room.
"I'm just seeing the new up-and-coming artists win awards, like people that are my age," said Strickland. "It just made me realize that, you know, I'm not too far."
The Quinn Coleman Scholarship is a financial scholarship and internship program that aims to eliminate barriers in the music industry by providing opportunities just like these. To learn more, click here.

Former Franklin priest indicted on sexual abuse of a child charges, says the Diocese of Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A former Franklin priest who was removed from ministry has been indicted on multiple charges that include child sex abuse, according to the Catholic Diocese of Nashville.
In a statement released on Friday, Feb. 9 the diocese said the priest identified as — Rev. Juan Carlos Garcia — was a former associate pastor at St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin and was removed from his position of public ministry while the Franklin Police Department led an investigation.
According to the statement, Franklin police began to investigate Garcia after representatives with the Diocese of Nashville contacted authorities after a teen reported improper touching involving the priest.
Per protocols, St. Philips made a report to the Tennessee Department of Children Services (DCS) as an outside investigator investigated the report.
While the investigation was ongoing, the Diocese of Nashville Review Board promptly convened and Garcia was removed from active ministry.
According to church officials, the investigative report and all available information were provided to the Franklin Police Department on the diocese’s own initiative.
On Friday, the diocese announced Garcia had been indicted by the Williamson County grand jury on one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, one count of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, and two counts of sexual battery.
Church officials reported the priest is expected to turn himself in to the Williamson County Jail for booking.
Garcia was ordained to priesthood in 2020, and was assigned to St. Phillip in 2022, according to the diocese. He was also previously an associate pastor at St. Rose of Lima in Murfreesboro before being assigned to St. Phillip, said church officials.
"The diocese reiterates that any person who reasonably suspects that child sexual abuse has occurred is required by law to make a report to civil authorities," read Friday's statement. "If the suspicion of abuse involves an employee or volunteer in a ministry or parish, a report should also be made to the Diocese of Nashville Safe Environment Coordinator."
Anyone with additional information regarding the priest is urged to contact Detective Andrea Clark with the Franklin Police Department at (615) 476-2809.
